My wife collects good receipts she finds on the internet. Sometimes “collect” means copy-paste part of the page in her Evernote (Evernote is a separate story). Usually works fine.
Really, what can go wrong with select and copy?
Something can. There are site authors which do not want their text being copied. Probably they afraid that somebody steals their content and republish it, probably something else – I do not know. And do not care.
But there are simpler ways to copy text from this site.
- If you use FireFox and, most probably, Safary – activate “reader view” mode in your browser. In this mode browser “reworks” the page to make it better readable (see mode name). As a side effect text becomes copiable. By the way, if you did not hear about “reader view” – it is a useful feature for longreads pages.
- If you use a browser which does not support “reader view” or the page cannot be shown in such a view (what also happens) – try to check if the site has a “print version” of the page – they often have – usually “print version” has no copy protection.
Definitely, there is another option, and probably, the best one – go to another side where authors respect their visitors.
