My Moto G (2015) has 16 GB storage and supports SD card. I purchased 16 GB card and expected that this would solve storage issue.
Nevertheless, soon I discovered that I could not save file bigger than 4 GB to the SD card.
This is FAT 32 limitation and this has nothing to do with Moto G.
I formatted SD card as exFat and NTFS – these file systems do not have 4GB limitation for single file size.
Guess what? Exactly: Moto G did not support these file systems.
I tried this and that and finally decided to ask support. One can chat with support directory in “help” app from the phone – cool! When works.
Finally, I was connected to a support center operator. I explained the problem and asked a simple question: “what files systems Moto G does support?”.
She asked me back “what do you mean by file system?”. The roles were changed 🙂
I explained to her what file system is. She promised to forward my request to an engineer and that answer comes per e-mail soon.
This happened a week ago. An answer is still on its way.
Meanwhile, I moved some heavy data and some apps to SD card and freed required space in the phone storage. Not the solution I prefer, but this works.
